These new headphones are an amazing value. The Direct Sound EX-25 Extreme Isolation Headphones are the best headphpnes we have ever tested for under $90. The sound is very good and no other headphone in this price range can match the 25db of noise reduction that these headphones provide.
These headphones are slightly lighter and more compact than their bigger brother, the EX-29 headphones, making the EX-25 headphones an excellent choice for frequent travelers or people just trying to block out sound to concentrate on studying or working. The main difference between these headphones and the EX-29 headphones is the studio quality speakers in the EX-29 headphones. While not quite as crystal clear as the professional level speakers in the EX-29 headphones, these headphones sound very good, have a great bass range, and block out virtually the same amount of noise as the more expensive model.
Customize Cord Length
Only available from QuietHeadphones.com, you can select a 9ft cord or a 40 inch cordfor your headphones. If you use your headphones at your computer or with an iPod/MP3 player you might find the 9ft cord to be a bit long and cumbersome. The 40 inch cord (slightly longer than 3 feet) is less likely to snag or get tangled when moving around.We are the only Direct Sound Dealer who can offer the 40 inch cord option.
Both the 9ft cord and the 40 inch cord are made from the same premium, heavy duty material and only differ in length.
The EX-25 headphones are slightly smaller than the EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones and do not block quite as much noise. But if you are on a budget, these headphones surpass any other headphone in it’s class that we have ever reviewed in both sound quality and noise reduction. Also, if you need to save a little space in your carry-on luggage, these EX-25 headphones are a bit smaller than their big brother, the EX-29 headphones. The EX-25 headphones are 2 ounces lighter and the ear cups are more thin.
Our Recommendation
Being smaller, these headphones are great for travel and since they do not use batteries you don’t have to ever worry about losing your noise reduction in the middle of a flight. These headphones are excellent at blocking airplane engine noise and other rumblings sounds as well as spikey noises such as talking and ringing phones. If you are an audiophile like we are, and can afford the extra cost, the improved isolation and studio quality speakers you get with the EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones is worth the upgrade.
